Our Mission
St. John the Baptist Catholic School serves students and parents on the west side of South Bend, IN, and is a part of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. Our school was founded in 1956 with Rev. Joe Jacobs as our first pastor who was appointed by the fifth bishop of the diocese, Archbishop John F. Noll. Our school continues today under the guidance of Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades, our pastor, Rev. Sunday Akuh, and our principal Shannon Jones.
St. John the Baptist Catholic School is committed to educating our students and creating a long-lasting belief in Scripture, traditions, and the sacraments.

Dear Families and Friends of St. John’s,
St. John the Baptist School is a great community! Its family atmosphere and small class sizes are what drew me to this school five years ago as a classroom teacher. It is now my honor to step into the role as principal and continue to serve this community. In partnership with our families, it is our mission to prepare students to love the true, the good, and the beautiful. We prepare our students for the true, the good, and the beautiful through continued academic growth and achievement as well as exploring and deepening students’ relationships with Christ. It is our goal to not only develop our students academically but to help them grow up to be good human beings that love and respect their neighbors. St. John’s has a gifted faculty and staff just waiting to help your child become a part of our family.
